Links for Get My Book

Privacy Policy

Last updated 19 October 2026

This policy explains how Evolve Systems Group Pty Ltd (ABN 51 098 121 343), trading as Get My Book ("we", "us"), handles information when you use bkurl.com, including our short links and SmartShelf pages. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

You do not need an account to use a bkurl.com link or SmartShelf page, and these pages have no forms. When you open a link or shelf page, our servers record:

  • which link or shelf was opened, and when
  • your IP address, which we use to estimate the country and region of the visit
  • your device and browser type
  • the referring page, if your browser sends one

We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or payment details on bkurl.com.

Why we collect it

  • To send you to the right destination.
  • To give authors and venues aggregate counts, such as how many people scanned a shelf this week. These reports do not identify individual visitors.
  • To detect and stop misuse of our links, such as automated traffic or attempts to redirect people to harmful sites.
  • To keep the service running reliably and fix problems.

Cookies and tracking

bkurl.com does not use advertising cookies or third-party ad trackers. Our own analytics respect your browser's Do Not Track setting. Some technically necessary cookies may be set to keep the service secure and working.

Buying a book

SmartShelf purchases are paid at the venue counter. If you buy online, that happens on getmybook.store, and the information you give at checkout is handled under that site's privacy policy, not on bkurl.com.

Sites we link to

Book links can take you to author websites and book retailers we do not operate. Once you leave bkurl.com, the privacy practices of that site apply.

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers who host and run our platform, under confidentiality obligations, or where the law requires it. Some of these providers may store data outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure the information is protected to a standard consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

How long we keep it

We keep visit logs for as long as needed to provide reporting and protect the service, then delete or de-identify them. Aggregate statistics that cannot identify anyone may be kept longer.

Security

All bkurl.com pages are served over HTTPS. We restrict access to logs to staff who need them and take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or make a privacy complaint by emailing info@evolvesys.com.au. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
